Auto Insurance Quote Columbus Georgia GA

Reader’s Question:

Can an insurance company in Columbus Georgia legally raise auto insurance rates if you are simply calling for a quote to determine the cost of another driver on your policy but have not officially placed that person on it yet?

Insurance companies can charge whatever they want and change the rates whenever they want, that’s a simple fact you have to deal with. But your only protection is to shop around. Auto insurance premiums across insurance companies ARE NOT the same so what you are paying now with your current insurer is not the same as what you would get with another. If in case you’re told that your insurance premium rates will increase after asking for a quote in Columbus GA, maybe the agent saw something that had been overlooked and that caused your rates to go up. Competition keeps everybody honest so check with a different company. Shop around for rates and see what you can get and if you think the agent is messing with you, don’t put up with it.

Insurance companies run a check of licensed drivers by address. If they find licensed drivers in a household that are not on the policy, they may add the additional drivers that they found. I would have to ask though, are you sure the change in premium was related to your call? As was said in the first answer, shop around for other insurance companies in Columbus GA if you do not trust your current agent and to make sure you’re getting the best price for the coverage you need.
