Automobile Insurance Rate Dutch Fork, South Carolina SC

Reader’s Question:

I was driving around Virginia and was cited for over speeding. I was going on 80 in a 65. I came from Dutch Fork, South Carolina. Will this be reported to my home state? If yes, will this affect my car insurance rate to go up?

Both your home state South Carolina and Virginia are members of Drivers License Compact (DLC). This means Virginia, where the traffic violation happened will report to your home state in South Carolina your violation. And over speeding of 15 mph beyond the speed limit merits a 4 demerit points for both mentioned states.

As per Title 56 of the Motor Vehicle division of the South Carolina Code of Law, any convictions for traffic violations that took place out-of-state that is also considered a traffic violation in SC may be placed on the driver’s record.

Once you pleaded guilty and it reflected on your driving record, then there’s a big possibility that your car insurance rate will go up. To further know how much increase it will have on your car insurance premium, it’s better to consult your auto insurance agent in Dutch Fork, South Carolina.
