If your state is not mandating you to buy an SR22, its not necessary to buy an SR22. Whether or not you will drive or own a vehicle usually is not important if the state is requiring that you get yourself an SR22 as a condition of your license being restored. The SR22 is showing that you have financial responsibility should you drive a vehicle.
If you don’t own a vehicle and are mandated to obtain an SR-22 you can get yourself a non-owner SR-22 policy.

I called to cancel my car insurance since I no longer have a car? I was told that in order for me to be able to operate someone else’s car I need to have a non owners bond. Is this correct? I live in Lorain, Ohio.
