Reader’s Question:

My wife and I acquired auto insurance in Charlseton South Carolina SC; the problem is she is paying lesser premiums compared to my premiums, it’s not really an issue but I just want to know why?

Hello there, Edgar.

Studies would show that women are safer driver than men. Women are more careful in handling the wheels on the road compared to men.

Majority of the insurance providers in South Carolina are basing their rates on statistics, this statistics affects greatly the premium rate of the insurance provider. It is natural that women get a lesser premium rates compared to men. Statistics will explain why, cases on car and road accidents involving women is lesser compared to men. Also women doesn’t really care on what type or model of car they are driving as long as they reach their destination while men loves to drive expensive and flashy cars. This explains why men normally pay higher premiums than women.

Other than the reasons mentioned above, women are always with the kids, they drive and pick up the kids in school. Having kids on vehicle as your passenger will make you more cautious in driving.

I know how you feel right now, it’s pretty normal for new auto insurance holder. But don’t you worry you can work for your discount, by keeping a clean record in the road, you driving history will improve and this will be a good reason so that you can avail of those discount.
