Reader’s Question:
I am a new driver with no enough knowledge about auto insurance stuff. I’ve been looking around for different auto insurance policies and I am bombarded with several policies. I am aware of the policies required by California. I just want an advice on whether I should get comprehensive and collision coverage or not? I am from Union City, California.

Don’t be so confused Chris. Help is here!
Let me first define what a comprehensive coverage is. If there’s damage on your vehicle that is caused by a non-related vehicular accident like theft, fire, hail etc., then this policy would back you up. It would cover the repair cost on your vehicle depending on the limits you have. On the other hand, collision coverage is like comprehensive. However, this time it would cover you if your car collided with another car. Hence, providing cost for the repair of your car and again depending on the specified limits you have on your auto insurance policy.
Now, you forgot to mention a very important factor that you need to consider in keeping or dropping those policies. How much is the value of your vehicle? If you car’s estimated value is at $1,000 then don’t ever consider getting those policies. Because honestly any future claims that you would be making would never exceed the cost for having those polices.
For additional information about car insurance, ask your auto insurance agent in Union City, California. Since you are looking for car insurance rates, I would suggest checking the websites.
